Echocardiography
The Cardiac POCUS Workshop was a comprehensive one-day program designed to enhance participants’ understanding of echocardiography and hands-on scanning skills. The day began with a focused lecture on ultrasound physics and image optimization, followed by a practical session dedicated to familiarizing participants with the ultrasound machine and its knobology.
After a short break, the workshop moved into the core echocardiographic views, including parasternal long and short-axis (PSLA, PSSA), apical, subxiphoid, and IVC views. Participants then practiced identifying and interpreting these views under expert guidance.
The afternoon sessions delved into the assessment of cardiac pathologies, covering topics such as CVP estimation, left ventricular function, ejection fraction, pulmonary embolism, pericardial effusion, and cardiac tamponade. The workshop concluded with practical exercises on essential cardiac calculations, including E-point septal separation, fractional shortening, fractional area change, and the Simpson (Biplane) method—providing participants with the tools to evaluate cardiac performance accurately in real clinical settings.
