Regional Anaesthesia (Basic)

The Basic Regional Anaesthesia Workshop was a one-day introductory course designed to provide participants with both theoretical understanding and practical hands-on experience. The program began with an overview of ultrasound physics and essential imaging parameters such as focusing, depth and gain control, and optimal probe setup, followed by practical sessions where participants learned to apply these concepts directly on probes.

The workshop then explored the most common nerve blocks across different anatomical regions, including interscalene, supraclavicular, infraclavicular, and axillary approaches for the upper limb; PECS and intercostal blocks for the thoracic region; TAP and rectus sheath blocks for the abdomen; and femoral and popliteal blocks for the lower limb. Each theoretical section was complemented by guided practical exercises to strengthen scanning skills and anatomical visualization.

By the end of the day, participants gained a solid foundation in ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia and were well-prepared to build upon these skills in advanced courses.
